BLENDED INTENSIVE PROGRAMS (BIPS)

To ΕΚΠΑ μέσω της συμμετοχής του στο Ευρωπαϊκό Πανεπιστήμιο του CIVIS, προσφέρει τη δυνατότητα στους φοιτητές των ιδρυμάτων του CIVIS να συμμετάσχουν σε εκπαιδευτικά προγράμματα/δραστηριότητες τα CIVIS Courses, στα πλαίσια των εκπαιδευτικών και ερευνητικών δράσεων των CIVIS HUBS και των Short Term Mobility Courses και υποστηρίζει οικονομικά τη φυσική κινητικότητα (διαμονή φοιτητή και μετακίνηση/αεροπορικά) σύμφωνα με τα οριζόμενα στην κάθε πρόσκληση. Σημειώνεται, πως βασικές προϋποθέσεις για τη λήψη της οικονομικής υποστήριξης αποτελούν: ο συμμετέχων να είναι εγγεγραμμένος φοιτητής του ΕΚΠΑ και να μη λαμβάνει άλλη επιχορήγηση Erasmus για το διάστημα κατά το οποίο πραγματοποιείται η εκάστοτε εκπαιδευτική δραστηριότητα CIVIS.

Τι είναι τα νέα μαθήματα-προγράμματα BIPs;

Τα Blended Intensive Programs (BIPs) είναι μια νέα μορφή κινητικότητας Erasmus+. Κάθε πρόγραμμα- μάθημα BIP συνδυάζει τη διαδικτυακή διδασκαλία με μια σύντομη περίοδο φυσικής κινητικότητας, όπου μπορείτε να περάσετε 5 ημέρες σε ένα άλλο πανεπιστήμιο με φοιτητές από όλη τη Συμμαχία του CIVIS! Συνδυάζοντας διαδικτυακές συνεδρίες με ένα σύντομο ταξίδι με δια ζώσης διδασκαλία, αυτή η καινοτόμος μορφή μαθημάτων ανοίγει ευκαιρίες για διεθνείς σπουδές σε νέες ομάδες φοιτητών.
Κάθε BIP αναπτύσσεται, οργανώνεται και διδάσκεται από ακαδημαϊκούς από τρία ή περισσότερα πανεπιστήμια-μέλη του CIVIS. Τα BIPs έχουν διεπιστημονικό χαρακτήρα και περιλαμβάνουν τη χρήση καινοτόμων εκπαιδευτικών μεθόδων.
Η συμμετοχή του φοιτητή στο εντατικό πρόγραμμα (BIP) αντιστοιχεί σε καθορισμένο αριθμό πιστωτικών μονάδων, τουλάχιστον 3 και έως 6 ECTS (καθορίζονται και από τους διοργανωτές του εκάστοτε προγράμματος).
Στο Ευρωπαϊκό Πανεπιστήμιο του CIVIS δίνεται έμφαση στη διεπιστημονική εκπαίδευση, με αντίκτυπο στην κοινωνία, επομένως όλα τα εκπαιδευτικά και ερευνητικά προγράμματα CIVIS, μεταξύ των οποίων και τα BIPs, έχουν αναπτυχθεί για να ανταποκριθούν στις 5 προκλήσεις-θεματικές ενότητες ευρωπαϊκού ενδιαφέροντος του CIVIS. ⇒ 3 νέα προγράμματα BIPs που αφορούν το επιστημονικό πεδίο των Επιστημών Υγείας και των Θετικών Επιστημών και άπτονται της θεματικής ενότητας του CIVIS HUB 3: "Υγεία".

Experimental Models in Molecular Biomedicine (EMMB): If you want to pursue a research career in biomedicine, this course is for you,. It will provide you with knowledge on different experimental models commonly used in current biomedical research, as well as on the principles of scientific method and experimental approaches.
Molecular Scale Biophysics: The objective of this course is to provide the student with the ability to choose appropriate methods to obtain data on structure-function relationships for a system of study. The courses will present different methods their strong and weak points and domains of applicability. This course is organized in synergy with the MOBRI European research infrastructure.
Technical Innovations: Applications to Immuno-Oncology: The course centers on scientific and technological labs, at the center of the advance in tumor immunology and immunotherapy research. With the recent successes of checkpoint inhibitors, or CAR-T cell therapies, clinical immunology-oncology is a rapidly evolving field that requires academic preparation of future scientists and healthcare professionals.

Circular economy in cities and territories (Make visible the invisible): This course is covering a very important gap in the current university’s curricula regarding with the importance of circular economy not only for European cities but also for other territories around the world. The circular economy is an innovative way to build new solutions to the develop models of sustainability. However, circular economy is still in its infancy and a new framework is opened to discuss its theoretical and practical pillars. So, this is an excellent moment to engage students, to permeant the circular economy philosophy in the mind and behavior of the Europe future builders and to involve them in its development.
Participatory tools for urban nature planning and management: The course aims to discuss concepts, methodologies, and best practices related to participatory tools for urban nature planning and management.

CHANCE: Undergraduate Research on the Sustainability of the Danube Delta: The ultimate goal of CHANCE is to prepare global-minded citizens who understand the importance of restoring and protecting the biodiversity of our planet's ecosystems, and who are equipped to address the challenges of our time such as energy, air, food, water, and climate change in their lifetimes. Since ecosystems cross national borders, CHANCE strives to view and to define sustainable answers for environmental realities from a global perspective.
French travellers in Mediterranean lands: The teaching and learning activities want to privilege a broad learning process and thus include different historical periods, literary forms, gender issues, territories, and so on. The scope covers at least three centuries of writing (mostly from the 17th century and forward), multiple areas of the Mediterranean lands (Corsica, Northern Africa, Egypt, Greece…), fictional and documentary sources, as well as male and female authors. In order to provide a link between the areas of content (and of geography), the programme is closely tied together at the theoretical level: in all seminars, the question of the Other and the Otherness, seen through historical, cultural and generic perspectives, provides the main entrance to analytical work and deepened reflection.

Care, Agency, Repair, Engagement in Alternative Modern(c)ities (CARE): Harvard academic and NGO founder Doris Sommer argues that ‘our responses to urgent challenges, which include inequality, violence, climate change, and migration, should include care for people and for the planet. Sustainable care will depend on the sociability promoted by the arts and humanities. Picking up Sommer’s challenge, this course captures for students a phenomenon that is widespread and significant, namely cultural responses to urgent challenges through engagement from the arts and humanities. The theory and practice of cultural engagement and repair is arguably in an expanding and evolving state, which makes for an opportune moment to share the area with the students, involve them in thinking about how to take forward research in the area, and connect to wider international debates.
European Renaissance: The CS will focus on the Renaissance Culture (XIV-XVI cent.) as a key to the construction of a European Cultural Tradition based on the Classical Heritage, from Petrarch to Erasmus and beyond. The School will have a strong interdisciplinary perspective, from philosophy to religion, from literature and linguistics to figurative arts and music; from history and historiography to social and natural sciences.
In/transitive Modernities: Dis/continuities and cultural transformation: Focusing on cultural transfers, encounters, and circulations, this course explores trans-European and transcultural connections and divides across Europe, the Mediterranean, Africa, and the American continent from the 20th to the 21st century. Reflecting the research concerns of the teaching team, the course will focus on diverse social experiences, forms, and media, spanning literature, film, the visual arts, and creative practice at large.
Languages in Europe and their diachronies (focus on historical language contact): This CIVIS Blended Intensive Programme will introduce participating students to an interdisciplinary way of studying the past and present of languages, focusing on ancient and medieval European languages. Students will acquire advanced knowledge of the modern theoretical approaches to the study of ancient languages, both in relation to the analysis of their grammar and to the examination of the correlations between society (for instance, in the cases of language contact), culture and linguistic development. Moreover, students will be involved in small linguistic and computational historical linguistic projects that aim to build advanced knowledge of the methodology of describing, analysing and explaining the grammar and the development of ancient languages.
Religion and power in the Eastern Mediterranean in Late Antiquity and Early Middle Ages: This blended mobility CIVIS course aims to familiarise Bachelor's students with the transformation of Christianity and the broader religious landscape after the 4th century as that interacted with political power.
Roman Mobilities: Movement of persons, animals, objects, and ideas in the ancient Roman world): The main goal of this programme is to provide a space of critical thinking to students coming from different countries and backgrounds and to generate an ongoing debate about the timeliness of studying ancient cultural discourses in the present moment. By focusing on the extremely mobile nature of ancient Rome in terms of space and time, we will question traditional claims about the legacy of Roman imperialism in the creation of European values and propose more innovative methods to tackle this question.
The heritage of money and coinage: a cross-cultural perspective: The heritage and impact of pre-modern coinage and means of exchange is vast and is culturally deeply embedded in today’s global societies: in economy, social life, the arts, cultural heritage, and more. We wish to explore such aspects of pre-modern coinage with CIVIS students by explicitly embracing non-Western perspectives (with particular focus on Asia and Africa) and including expertise from the field of economics and historical science to the study of pre-modern money and coinage and its heritage from a cross-cultural angle.
Rights and Democracy: the multilevel protection of fundamental rights and the role of Constitutional and European Courts: The summer school aims to analyze the complex and delicate phase of the development of contemporary democracies. Indeed, they seem to be struggling with an identity and values crisis that jeopardizes the very stability of fundamental rights. In this context, could the dialogue between national constitutional Courts and European Courts actually contribute to the progressive construction of a common heritage of rights? Moreover, may this trend represent one of the suitable ways to overcome the democratic crisis, also understood as a "crisis of rights"? The main goal of the course thus is to offer an opportunity for exploring this problematic framework and to discuss possible perspectives for a democratic "revitalization" in Europe, with a particular focus on the so-called "dialogue between courts".
Refugee legacies in museum and heritage sites: The programme is highly challenge-based since it will engage students with the emerging critique around museums positioning on key societal phenomena as refugee crisis, their legacies and contemporary realities, as well as the power of collective memory and historical empathy. The involved partners understand the BiP as a starting point for a museum and heritage network within CIVIS that grows over the years and integrates members from other universities, museums, civic organisations and different disciplines. They also want to document the whole process of co-creating this community of learners, and record it as an innovative pedagogy, both during the virtual and the physical meetings as well as after, assessing its imprint with a follow-up group discussion and written shared thoughts.
Refugees, Migrants, and Exiles in German and Comparative Literature: This course is a transdisciplinary and collaborative programme exploring how refugees, migrants, and exiles have been treated in German and Comparative Literature today and in the past. This course will be taught in “multilingual German” and will treat literature as a medium through which we can reflect on and imagine migration as an important part of human experience and society.
Multicultural and multilingual mediation: Second or/and foreign language acquisition on the example of the German language: The project "Multicultural and multilingual mediation: Second or/and foreign language acquisition and use on the example of German" is intending, on the one hand, to complete the educational profile of students in the field of foreign language (mediation) and, on the other hand, to demonstrate the sociopolitical relevance of language mediation in a globalized world of life and work.

Το Πανεπιστήμιο της Στοκχόλμης , μέλος του Ευρωπαϊκού Πανεπιστημίου του CIVIS, στο πλαίσιο των εκπαιδευτικών δράσεων του CIVIS, διοργανώνει για το χειμερινό εξάμηνο ( έναρξη το Γενάρη του 2023) τέσσερα νέα "Ανοιχτά, Διαδικτυακά Μαθήματα" (Open Online Courses), που προσφέρονται στους φοιτητές των ιδρυμάτων του CIVIS, παρέχοντας τους δωρεάν, υψηλής ποιότητας διαδικτυακά, εκπαιδευτικά μαθήματα-σεμινάρια, που αφορούν διάφορα επιστημονικά πεδία.

► Είναι ανοιχτά προς αιτήσεις 6 προγράμματα BIPs που αφορούν διάφορα επιστημονικά πεδία:

Basic cell biology: ollowing a blended learning approach, this Basic Cell Biology course is divided into two modules. The virtual mobility module combines face-to-face teaching with online asynchronous sessions, which allows an optimal usage of teaching approaches such as flipped learning, research-based teaching and teamwork. From October to December, the module covers the program’s theoretical part.
European private law and modern technologies: The aim of this project is to deepen certain topics of private law that apply to modern technologies. In particular, it is intended to create a private law course dealing with specific topics in the technological and digital sector between the four participating universities (La Sapienza University of Rome, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Université Libre de Bruxelles, University of Salzburg 'Paris Lodron'). In particular, issues of contract law relating to contracts concluded in a totally digital manner via the Internet and contracts concluded between a physical person and an artificial intelligence (smart contracts) will be addressed.
Language and identity in an intercultural perspective: The program aims at providing PhD students with the opportunity to discuss topics related to their own dissertation projects with fellow students as well as faculty from different departments and even different subjects. This should help PhD-students to (1) gain a better overview of their area of research and (2) to network in an internationally appealing environment. Since at most universities there is not that many faculty-people in the field of the course’s topic the international exchange will foster the student’s dissertation projects.
Linguistic cultures and communities in Europe (past and present): The aim of the course is to encourage research in the linguistic cultures of the geographical areas of the 6 participating universities with a view to achieve: Appreciation of how language shapes identity and culture, knowledge of how languages live and are shaped within different geographic spaces, experience in fieldwork research methods, outreach to the general public.
Argumentation, communication, digital tools and knowledge transfer: The programme of the course 'Argumentation, communication, digital tools and knowledge transfer' consists of a university course that brings together society, culture, multilingualism, communication and digital tools in order to create common European university spaces where knowledge transfer is present and more specifically in the context of the French language and Francophone cultures.
Co-creating Urban Futures: Cities have a significant role to play in advancing democracy and citizenship. In an urban world, cities are both home and local political context for most people. As centres of social life, economy and resource use, cities are also key sites for dealing with global challenges like climate change. Citizen “co-creation” is an important means of opening-up multi-directional, horizontal dialogues and decision-making processes between government and civil society. But it necessitates experimentation and institutional change, which can be difficult for local governments because of rigid structures and a lack of resources. There are also concerns over the extent to which citizens can genuinely influence the government. Hence critical engagement with local concepts and practices of ‘co-creation’ is necessary to identify challenges and ways forward.

"The course helps students to understand how their memories are functioning, and hence, which are the scientifically-proved most relevant learning methods. It deconstructs neuromyths, determines each student’s learning profile and strategy, informs about the stereotype threat and the implicit bias, with their possible consequences on taking decisions. It helps in managing stress and raises awareness to mindfulness and well-being positive effects. It will be in English and there will be displayed slides with a limited number of English words, mostly images or drawings, with embedded experiments and interactive (Wooclap) sessions. This course is needed for all European citizens, in the frame of sustainable development to reduce the negative effects of stereotypes and implicit bias, for a better inclusion".
